ANDERSON Yes sir, that fellow whoever he was who named Monday "blue" sure hit the nail on the head. Why? Well you see just before Monday there is Friday nite, Saturday nite and Sunday nite. And when a fellow likes to have a little fun on the week-end there is usually the boys to contend with. Yeah they come early Friday nite, you get ready and go buzzing off like a rocket ship in the new car. And then after you've burnt up the road for a half hour you suddenly find yourself somewhere and can't quite recall what the hell the hurry was. You climb out and leave her sit while she cools off. In we go with a silly carefree attitude that would make our ball-headed preacher tear his hair. Yet he's a pretty swell guy, but I'd sure like to see him indulge in a weekend with us fellows.I'll bet we could make that fuzz he's got stand wright up straight when we got him in the car. Maybe we do drive a little fast but gee the cars now days are built so they can take It and anyway the fellow that drives is usually all there. And besides we've all driven trucks quite abit and that makes that little Ford handle like a kiddy car. And Bingo After spending a little money we come out and climb back in the car, that is just about cooled off, and bingo another fifty miles have turned over on the speedometer. And you find some other place to spend your money. Then after chasing around all nite, till we're broke, finially decide to head for home and bed. Yes sir a bed sure looks and feels (Continued Elsewhere In Paper cuojaaajotioap to no o O J u o 0 e S o u i to - o . h .5 o) a) - CO CD to o o d . - o a a c - l s g . 0) i c B C cri & 1 o 6 d 5 8 1 3 I o c o 1 to CD O a 55a. Background According to Mr. Allred, the author of the play has an interest ing background, and writes beautiful, crystal clear English. Thornton Wilder first came into prominence when he wrote the novel, "The Bridge of San Luis Rey," the story taking place in South Amer ica. It became an immediate success, and since then he has written either a novel or play every year. So much, in fact, that people began to think he was a one novel author until he reached his peak in "Our Town." It was first produced about three years ago, and since has become one of the nation's really fine plays. After its first production, it was immediately seized upon by many amateur groups Little Theatre, college dramatics societies, etc. "There is something compassionately compelling about the play, as it might be anybody's town, just the average little community, and the pathetic concern about the. passing of life," Mr. Allred concluded.Aircraft Mechanics Listed Among New Courses New courses In airplane engineering and aircraft mechanics are being planned at Weber college. Three new teachers, O. M. Johnson, Charles O. Holther and Mr. Bendio will be ready to instruct in these subjects as soon as the students have been selected. Mr. Johnson is at present employed by the Western Air Express in Salt Lake City as crew chief of repair and maintenance. He has a service record of 15 years with that company, two years of which were spent in Burbank, California. Mr. Bendio is also with the Western Air Express. He is a certified aircraft and engineer mechanic. As his specialty is repair of the fuselage and body of airplanes and as this is mostly sheet metal work, he will teach the aircraft sheet metal class. One such class, under Glen H. Scott, already is in progress. Mr. Holther will teach one of the evening defeffee classes. He is at present engineering foreman at the supply depot, Hill field. Mr. Holther comes from Spokane, Washington, where he was custodian of Felt field from October, 1940 to January 30, 1941. From 1925 to 1940, he was with the 116th observation squadron of the air corps and instructor in airplane and engine mechanics. He was also chief mechanic of his squadron. Group Chosen for Acorn Honors Basing their selections on scholarship, the number of activities participated in, the amount of work done in those activities, and general attitudes, the staff of the 1941 Acorn yesterday selected their choices of the outstanding students of Weber college. These students will be honored in a special section devoted to their photographs and write-ups concerning their achievements, Editor Budd Johnson, stated. "We felt that we would rather select a person who has been in one activity and worked hard at it rather than one who has been in a great many, he said. "We wanted students who worked for the school and not for the points alone that they would receive." Every student in the school was eligible for the selections excepting student body and class officers, as-(Continued Elsewhere In Paper o bo a 2 a - - u .5 d -a 3 a a, .. - a a: 3 fc y 8 a ni 5 o c " a a 3 - P 3 o bo tn -a a) 131? i&g'a 9 TO a, o a it ; aa S 1 " 3 3 8 -w - --" 5 a o- a co 3 "O .2 Q eB o r 43 ft Op CD 2 a o 75 Q ani 3.5 SOBM3 0) 1 J3 ,aa a i? 5 3 bo a a a i O -g - 5 8 2- oj IS S a3 bo X O a O B1 2 a ti C 3 a. u OJ a x: : ft bo O 0) ft.
