Show Against the Silver Standard. London. July 11. The report of the parliamentary committee on Indian currency, just issued, in the form of a blue book, approves the decision of the government not to revert to a silver standard. It argues that it would be impossible to maintain the status quo permanently and therefore there-fore recommends that measures be taken ta-ken to introduce a gold standard with the British sovereign as legal tender, and advises that the Indian mints be allowed to coin gold without restriction restric-tion on the same terms as the Australian Aus-tralian mints. |
