C, right alongside that of General Jielknap, former secretary of war, who, like Goneral Stanton, was born in Iowa, and within a few feet of the simple I -'VVrl'ifi in u !": - GEN. STANTON. monument which marks the last resting rest-ing place of Lieutenant James Porter Martinew, wlio was for many Tears associated with General Stanton when both were attached to the department of the Platte. Within sight are the monuments of General Phil Sheridan, General Crook and a hundred more of the comrades in arms of the fighting paymaster, as he was known |
