Department of Agriculture has written to its local representative here, Jos. S. Snow, for two lbs of seed cotton and two lbs of lint cotton to be exhibited at the Paris Exposition. The cotton was forwarded by mail today, Elders Frank Y. Taylor and B. F, Grant, who attended conference, were driven from here by Edward Frei. When they reached the "Sands," about four miles out, the buggy broke down. Bro. Frei took the team on to Diamond Valley to get a rig, while the brethren walked. The latter walked about five miles when they met Elder Frei, who had succeeded in securing a wagon at Lytle's, in which he drove them to Modena. When Mgr. Snow and his assistants arrived at the Washington Roller Mill last- Saturday, morning they smelt smoke in the mill, and upon seeking the cause discovered fire burning in the wheel-house. The fire had apparently appar-ently been burning for some time, and Mr. Snow is at a loss to account for its origin. The fire was speedily extinguished. exting-uished.
