Dear -Brother: My purpose in writing to you is thut if any persons in our part of the country have relatives here in Boston, we elders would be. pleased to visit them ii" wo had their names and address; and knowing that you are interested in the work of the Lord and will give our address room in your valuable valu-able paper. I had a very pleasant journey to Brooklyn, and after staying- there two days took the steamboat for Providence, It. I. I remained in Providence two weeks aud then came to Boston, on the ith ot November, to attend conference; which was held on the 5th, ('th and 7th of November. There were twenty-eight twenty-eight elders present, including- Pres. W. II. Smart of the Eastern states mission mis-sion and Pres. Gardner of the New England conference, W'e had an enjoyable en-joyable time and -were instructed in the things of God. The ciders all expressed ex-pressed themselves in regard to their past labors which was quite encourag'e-ing. encourag'e-ing. On the 7th of Nov. we held our oriesthood meeting- aud received much instruction from Pres. Smart. The spirit of the Lord was manifest. We also received our appointments. I being be-ing appointed to labor in Maiden, a suburb of Boston, with Elder J. Pu Thomas of Paradise, Utah. Our address for the. present is J.S2 Buckman street, Everett, Mass. Maiden Mai-den is on the north of Boston and Elder Geo. F. Whitehead is located on the south of Boston. We expect to hold Sunday school and meeting in Boston every Sunday at No. 1 Kueeland Street. We tract and visit during the week. Eugene Young-, a grand son of Brig-ham Young, is in Boston exposing Mormon ism. 1 have heard him speak on two different occasions. The last time he made a miserable failure, excused ex-cused himself, and retired. He uttered many falsehoods, and I believe his conscience) con-science) if he had one, pricked him; The people are very muchly worked up over the Roberts case, and much literature litera-ture is being circulated against the Mormons, but I am convinced that it will all tend to get the Gospel before the people. I am satisfied there are many honest souls in this part of the country, many who never heard the (lospel of Jesus Christ. There are six eiuJi-s located in the vicinity rf Boston, The work of the Lord is progressing and there is room for a great many elders in this mission. The weather is quite cold and stormy. Praying God's blessing; to rest on all who are striving to obey His laws: Success to the Washington County News, and kind regards to old friends. I am, your Brother in Christ. Martin L. McAllister, 182 Buckman St., Everett, Mass. |
