Show The Rio Virgin has been in flood this week. Geo. Ashby came in from Miiford Thursday. .Mrs. Hulda Rhoner returned from a visit to Cedar City Thursday. Pres. David II. Cannon left Friday to spend a few days in the mountains at Pinto. Marian E. Paris and wife of Leeds were in St. George Thursday, guests of the Hardy house. Marian is looking look-ing hale and hearty and seems to enjoy life. The rainstorm on Thursday night was a very welcome visitor indeed. It cooled the air, laid the dust, and scattered scat-tered the people who were sleeping on deck. Joe Hyde, the genial drummer for Seowcroft & Sons, Ogden, was doing business here this week. He says everything looks vd.v prosperous all over Utah; better than for some years. William Sterling of Leeds will report at, Salt Lake City on Sept. 1st. to proceed on a mission to Scotland, his native land. A suprise was sprung on this valuable citizen last week and many costly presents made him in token of the esteem in which he is held. Tim News join in wishing him success. Our venerable postmaster, John Pymm, has had a severe bout of it this week. The old gentleman; who is nearly eighty-three years old, was apparently ap-parently recovering nicely from a former for-mer sick spell when he had a relapse Tuesday. Letters and papers posted here for Leeds and Virgin City some time ago have not reached the people to whom they were addressed. Where the fault lies we do not know, but if more care is not taken Something will be heard to drop.
