Collections of internal revenue for the fiscal year ending June 3th last, in the district comprising Montana, Utah and Idaho, according to figures compiled by Collector Col-lector Webster, were 5081.007, with the addition of S'50,000, which is the estimated amouDt sent out of the district dis-trict for the imprinting of documentary document-ary stamps upon drafts ami checks, making a total of $731, 007 as compared with S257,osi for the preceding year. It is estimated that of that amount 8409,404 were due to the war tax, leaving leav-ing the tax estimated upon the basis of the revenue law preceding the war measure S271 ,003, wnich allows for an crease of $14,252 in the ordinary channels of business. The greatest collection from any one source came from beer, which contributed contrib-uted S30S.09S this year . Upon the basis ba-sis of the tax prior to the war the collections col-lections would have been 5164,160 making 8139,538 that the brewers contributed con-tributed to the war expenses. Of the cigar receipts of S20.4S0 the war tax is responsible for S3, 4 16. Documentary stamps realized S20L-818 S20L-818 and proprietary stamps were sold to the amount of 13.053. Banks contributed con-tributed 530,000. The tobacco tax due to the war was $004. Montana contributed con-tributed 65 per cent of the collections of the district, Utah approximately 21 per cent and Idaho 14 per cent. |
