Show MORE TALK OF PEACE. Belief That War in the Philippines in Nearlng an Kml. Kansas City, Mo., July 25. A special to the Times from Independence, Kan., says: Under the date of May 1, Emil G. Et.old, company G, Twentieth Kansas, Kan-sas, writes from Manila to his sister in this city. Among other statements, he said: "They say that our regiment will be relieved in a few days, but 1 think we are in for it until it is finished. I think it won't be long now until this war is over, and that the volunteers will go home. There were two of Aguinaldo's officers here yesterday to negotiate for peace terms, and nobody knows yet what they did about it. They are pretty anxious to have the war stop, and our government has offered S30, Mexican money, for every man who will come in and give up his gun." |
