Show FROM INDIANA. EI.DKll IH A S. M-MTTLEIN" Ol" EEElls "WHITES OF HIS MISSIONARY TRAVELS. Thinking a few lines from here would be of interest to Mends at home, I take this opportunity to write. I was set apart to go on a mission to the Northern states on January 12, 1898, and left Salt Lake City the next day. I arrived in Chicago on the 16th and was assigned to southern Indiana conference. I started for my field of labor on January 19th, being directed to go to Bartholomew county. There I met President E. D. Sorenson of the southern Indiana conference, who appointed ap-pointed me to labor at Greensburg, Decatur County, with J, W, Wilcox until conference in March. There I was given a new companion, Elder P. G. Sessions, and was sent to Shelby county. While there my companion was released to return home on account of sickness and death in his family. I was then directed by our president to go to Evansville, Vafdensburg county, and labor with the elders there until some new elders arrived from Utah. My new companion came and we were sent into Gibson county to open up a new field I labored 'there a little over a mouth and then returned to EVans-ville, EVans-ville, and have labored here ever since. The city of Evansville has about 75,000 people and is the second city in size in Indiana. It is quite a nice city to labor in, the people as a rule being liberal; We have been treated very fair by the leading papers, and they have printed several articles for the elders as well as notices of our meetings; meet-ings; We have five members of the Church in this city, all of whom have been baptised since the elders came here about the loth of March. We have a very nice branch of the Church out in the country, about twelve miles from here, of about tventy members, mem-bers, all of whom have been baptised since January 1, 1898. This conference has l;d all others in the Northern states in baptisms during the past year, and we hope to keep up the record. There is now seventeen elders in this conference, confer-ence, all of them good, faithful, energetic ener-getic workers. Our conference will be lield at Evansvillle on the 5th, Gth and 7th of November. Our President has engaged en-gaged the Evans' hall for this purpose: it will seat more than the Tabernacle at St. George, and we expect to have a good time there. Ira S.
