Show ins MRS 81 PASSES AWAY amelia lavina moore ankin was born at sampson isle of guernsey great britain jan 26 1849 she was left motherless at the age of sixteen left her native land about 1870 and on arrival in this country kept house tor for her brother in new jersey was married to james R at newark N 3 sept 13 1872 with her husband she went to kansas in 1874 and there took up land near what Is now st johns here they suffered much from failure of crops by drouth etc in her early life she had attended the methodist church but in 1875 she joined bickerton faith a branch of the Rigdon ites in april 1889 they joined the L D S church and came to utah in august of the same year they lived at salt lake until 1891 then moved to idaho falls in may of that year mrs went through the logan on her way to idaho falls mr died at ucon acon idaho march 23 1818 1918 mrs came to st george in id the tall fall of 1919 her husband bad had been an invalid for many years and before coming here they lived in california for some time ta in hopes of ben his health mr and mrs had nine children tour four of whom who survive as follows mrs alice amelia frame provo utah arthur it i and edwin B i ucon acon idaho and frederick B pocatello idaho one son was killed in france during the world war mrs built a neat little home in this city where she passed a away yay march 23 1923 of leakage of the heart funeral services were held in the stake tabernacle saturday afternoon and the remains were taken to ucon acon idaho sunday by her son edwin miss millie a granddaughter who had spent tha the winter with her also accompanied the remains to idaho where they will be interred mrs was a woman of indomitable courage who passed through hardships unflinchingly and with cheerful heart she made many friends here and will be remembered by them tor for her kindly ways and cheerful demeanor |
