Show VOC it CONCERT creditable TO DIXIE COLLEGE the vocal concert given by the music department of the dixie college last saturday night la in the tabernacle was really wonderful it was given under direction of prof jos wm mcallister McAll lster and was highly creditable to him the college and all who tools took part the grand chorus work by about two hundred voices was greatly admired thorough training being greatly evidenced the full chorus was brilliantly brill antly effective in the bar carolle from the tales of hoffman the soldiers chorus from faust carry me ale back to old vir ginny in which the audience joined and build thee more stately mansions miss evelyn thurston presided at the piano vacating it to miss gertrude fawcett while she took the organ both instruments being used in some of the chorus work the dixie school song was sung by a male chorus which afterwards sang the flag without one aaen on the road to mandalay wes sung by a male chorus good by sweet day and cotton dolly by a ladles ladies chorus A piano solo was given by miss thurston a cornet solo by prof earl J bleak a reading by mrs mae mcallister McAll lster and vocal solos by misa miss grace gates miss viola haycock karl winsor eldon larson and leonard sproul mrs haycock sang gounod s ave M maria aria most elquis bitely and was very heartily applaud ed it was a it beautiful number ex cee well rendered by special request of apostle richards the barcarolle was ids again sung the audience was very large and the hearty applause that greeted each number showed that the excellence of the entertainment was thoroughly appreciated precia ted |
