Show wesley king wants to kill arrowhead trail ali e salt lake tribune ot of last sun days day s date contained an article in which charges charge a are made by wesley king that people here are against zion national park the same charge Is laid to the automobile club of southern california the article ts Is reproduced in this issue of 0 the news in full and by carefully reading it it will be seen that this la is simply part of the plot to kill off the arrowhead trail or at least the name in tact fact mr air king Is backed up in the article in question by W D rishel who has long been opposed to the arrowhead trail the road reports in the salt lake sunday papers are evidence of this the name arrowhead trail being left out of the reports and the words road to st george or I 1 zion canyon highway substituted wesley king makes a charge that a party of oklahoma tourists stopped at the snow hotel conducted by joseph snow and were not informed here of the existence of zion park there Is no snow hotel here neither does joseph snow conduct a hotel there are two hotels here the Arrow arrowhead Lead and the dixie 11 the former Is owned and managed by warren cox and the hotel dixie is owned and managed by samuel judd this story of wesley kings looks very fishy at least there is no foundation for it in fact to build up the story be he names a hotel that is not here and names a man as manager who does not run a hotel nor never had anything to do with one the reason for all this is evident from the concluding paragraphs of the article in the tribune I 1 mr I 1 r king names as the first step to remedy the matter the naming of the road from los angeles to salt lake zion park highway there you have it as plain as it can be set forth take away the name arrowhead trail and substitute for it zion park highway this move did not originate in utah at all these salt lakers who are doing their best to kill the arrowhead trail are simply working for northern california as against south ern california wesley king has never been a friend to southern utah every time he has made a trip into our dixie land he has I 1 knocked it it is too bad salt lake does not have zion park and brices arices canyon tacked on to the city limits they even propose changing the name of brices arices canyon wonder what old aid eb brice would think of it all were he alive today some of these salt lakers who visit zion canyon have highly inflated opinions of themselves they get got the idea into their heads that the people of the country districts know nothing and act accordingly but we are here to be reckoned with and we dont propose to be downed by any uny such outfit these same salt lakers might at least give us credit for being alive to our own interests but they do not it is to our interest to I 1 boost for zion park and we always have boosted tor for it both hotels here I 1 boost I 1 tor for it as well as everybody else also the proprietors are not fools but at the same time we want to retain the arrowhead trail and benefit by the travel it will bring we dont want salt lake to divert this travel by other routes as they want to do the first step in this diver eton sion would be the changing of the name arrowhead trail to some oth er this fact we are fully alive to and we dont propose to stand for or it |
