Show RESULTS OF FARM BUREAU CATTLE the shipment of cattle that has just been completed by officers of the farm bureau Is an item that many have been interested in and one that all the stockmen stoc kmen of the county have been especially interested the sale was made at modena all told bead of cattle were delivered and all but five head of old cows were sold they bad a fair bid but were rejected the prices for cows ranged from five to seven cents and for steers with the exception of some jerseys from eight to eight and a half approximately head of cows brought seven cent the highest price paid tor beef in this section at a shipping point this tall another hundred head of cows classed as feeders sold at six cents and then a bunch of old skates sold at five practically all the cooperation fit the sale felt well satisfied with returns this is especially true of those who had cows classed at seven cents there are some who sent old cows that they evidently thought would go at the top that will be disappointed in view of the tact that old cowa though in fair flesh but carrying a great deal of waste sold at six one lamentable feature about the sale was the tact that some of our cooperation seemed to have the idea that it them an opportunity to get rid of a lot of junk this was strictly against the advice of the agent and caused a lot of unnecessary delay and expense another year this cannot happen and when we advise against sending three cornered jersey junk for beet it means that it must not go it Is a strict intrusion on the cooperators a with sa leable stuff A few head of light steers were sent this also was poor judgment and against our wish when stuff is sold on weight it means that weight counts and not ears the heavy steers sold well and made money for the owner taken all in all the big majority bt the stuff was good and it sold well there is much left for us to learn in making this kind of a sale but the outstanding part la that under proper system and management the idea of cooperative selling has proven its worth and should be emphatically encouraged under conditions prevailing in this county J R tippetts county agent labor cannot inflict any injury upon the public that will not react against itself the same is true of capital and of any other element and how easy it is to lose sight of this immutable tact |
