Show mac shows acre dixie is lacking editor washington COUNTY dear sir members of the Chur cli who contemplate moving lo 10 some place where the climate is milder during the winter month than it 13 in tho northern parts of utah were advised by Prest lund at tho recent general conference to go to st george where they in addition to receiving the advantages of the mild weather generally experienced perien ced there div profitably engage in tempio ordinances instead of going where the climate is not any bettch than it 1 in st george and abere there is nothing so desirable to occupy their spare time since returning to salt lake city last july I 1 have met many ac qu who hae enquired concerning the clinn tic and healthful conditions in our dixie and the prospect of finding suitable house hold accommodations in st george especially from October to may of each year 1 I am quite sure there are many more persons who make similar enquiries whom I 1 have not met I 1 have invariably given a favorable account of the healthful characteristics of our didies climate and have taken picture in referring to the splendid improvements thit are being made in bt george temple which will make it a very desirable place in which members of the church may spend much of then time most agreeably I 1 have been however a little guarded in mv replies to the second part of the enquiry and have stated that at present there are few apart ments with modern that ran be rented but that I 1 believe the good people of st george are beginning to provide euch accommodations I 1 am writing thus to you dear mr editor to encourage you if encouragement is needed to keep up the agitation you have so long and so well maintained in favor of the people making improvements that will attract residents to st george and other parts of washing ton county and hold them there continue to emphasize the facts you have so often presented that a town most successfully advertises itself when it has an ample supply of good water sewerage a satisfactory electric light service progressive gres sive citizens and civia authorities good educational institutions comfortable hotels rates ate with modern home at reasonable rental lots neatly fenced gardens and lawns orchards and tidy door yards outhouses out houses out of sight no corbala on the street lines park and playgrounds grounds of pub lie places attractive shade arees and graded streets cemented or at least level and clean sidewalks store windows clean and displays attractive in brief a CLEAN 1 town I 1 think there Is no doubt that considering the naturally fine location the permanent and more rap id growth of st george depend largely upon the development of thee and other desirable character MILS let us all do our bit to help bring it about MAC |
