Show SUMMER FALLOW IS FAVORED t evidence derived from teats at ne brasca testing station show de aided advantage in method the directors of the north neb agricultural experiment station have been carrying on some expert mental work along the line of cereal reduction which should be of cal value to dry farmers in other seo alons on the forty eight plots devoted to growing wheat in a season follow f ing summer an average yield wan secured of 30 2 bushels per acre it as found that plots which had been sown at the rate of two pecks per acre yielded as vell as those on which five pecks were cowed in tact the two smallest returns were from plots on r which five pecks had been used the is loleat returns obtained from growing adall grain were on land which had M been in alfalfa the preceding year five to six bushels of oats were se cured following crome grass on corn land from ten to twenty bushels and on land summer fallowes fallowed fall owed thirty bush i els the evidence derived from the 11 above tests seems to show a decided advantage in favor of summer tallow ing over ony other system of handling under the conditions which prevail in I 1 western nebraska |
