Show fine Program Reported I At B.-P. W. Club Meeting ."What Are We Fighting For?" was the subject covered Wednesday Wednes-day evening by the Business and Professional Women in their meeting meet-ing at the McQuarrie Memorial hall, with President Tillie Win-sor Win-sor in charge. The publicity committee com-mittee presented the program assisted as-sisted by Mrs. Anthony Pace, who with Margaret Bradford gave the main discussions of the subject with a summarization by Mabel Jar vis, committee chairwoman. The vital points at issue as the United States and the Allies in general accept them were ably presented by Mrs. Pace and Mrs. Bradford. Effective on the program were two vocal - numbers by Mrs. Mamie Paxman, "This Is Worth Fighting For", and "Flag Without With-out A Stain", with Mrs. Mae A. Pace accompaning. Both numbers num-bers were interpretive of the phases of the subject discussed. Following the discussion Attorney At-torney Ellis J. Pickett was given time to review the Chain Store Tax bill which is to come up for the November 3rd election, and covered several of the salient points which citizens should understand un-derstand before deciding their vote on the proposed law. Mr. Pickett talked in behalf of J. C. Penney company of this icty. President Winsor then reviewed the business of the session and announced the programs for the ensuing month, also reporting the appreciation of the local draft board and others for the effective program put over for the departing de-parting soldier boys in October by the B.-P.W. |
