Show Mrs. B. G!en Smith Dies Suddenly In Payson Hospital Word was received late Tuesday night in St. George of the death of Wildee Dixon Smith,' 47, wife of B. Glen Smith, instructor at Dixie junior college. Mrs. Smith has been in failing health for three years and died suddenly in the Payson hospital, after a short critical illness. Eldest child of William Dee and Lucy Maycock Dixon, she was born in Payson, March 26, 1896. She had her early schooling in Payson and later attended the Brigham Young university, from which institution she took her bachelor's degree in 1926. During the years she also taught school in the Nebo district, including English in the Spanish Fork high school for several years. She was married" in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple in the spring of 1926 to B. Glen Smith, formerly form-erly of Spanish Fork, and came with him to St. George to make their home, as he was then instructor in-structor in the department of education edu-cation at the college. They have no children, but Mrs. Smith's mother, sister, Mrs. Margaret Bradford, and son, Dixon Bradford, and for several years her father and brother, William Dee Dixon Jr., have made their home with the Smiths during the winter months. While in St. George, Mrs. Smith has been an active church worker, serving at one time at stake Y. L. M. I. A. president, and in the stake Sunday school board. She was also active in the D. U. P., serving for a year as president of the Dixie camp.. Since shortly after her arrival here she has been connected with the Athena club, and has held various offices in that organization. Funeral services for Mrs. Smith will be held in the Payson L.D.S. Second ward chapel, Friday, Oct. 1st, at 1:30 p. m. Pres. Harold S. Snow, Pres. Glenn E. Snow, W. O. Bentley and others en-route en-route to conference in Salt Lake City plan to attend the services. |
