Show Rites Held Monday for Fioneer Utahn, 81, At Enterprise Chapel ENTERPRISE, Utah. Funeral services for Bertha L. Schmutz Barlocker, 81, were held Monday, Sept. 17, at 2 p. m. in Enterprise ward chapel. Counselor Heber M. Holt of the Enterprise Bishopric conducted the services. Mrs. Barlocker Bar-locker died at 5:20 a. m. Friday, Sept. lJ, at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Peterson in Delta, where she had been visiting for two weeks. Music numbers were "Oh, My Father" and Resting Now From Care and Sorrow" by the ward chior; vocal duet, "Whispering Hope by Heber M. Holt and Alta Truman; vocal solos, "Mother Machrce" hy a granddaughter, Katie Barlocker, accompanied by Irma Bracken; "End of a Perfect Day," by Howard Holt, and "Going "Go-ing Home" by Alma Terry accompanied accom-panied by Helen Terry. Jones, with closing remarks by Heber M. Holt. They praised her work during 17 years as Enterprise Enter-prise ward relief society president. She served in this capacity under three bishops,, George Holt, George Geo-rge O. Holt, and Joseph A. Terry. During that time Mrs. Lund served as one of her counselors, coun-selors, and Mrs. Terry as secretary. secre-tary. Emphasis was also made of her tireless service in caring for the sick. No weather was too cold or snow too deep for her to visit the homebound, sick and needy in her ward. She was a kind, wholesome wife and mother, an unselfish and s incere friend and neighbor. She and her husband spent five years at Temple work in St. George, c 0 m pi e ting the ordinances for thousands of relatives on two of their family lines for which they had large records. An original tribute in verse was read by her granddaughter, Mrs. Maeser Terry. Prayers were by James A. Holt and Seth M. Jones. The grave in the Enterprise cemetery was dedicated dedi-cated by Wilford Schmutz, a nephew nep-hew from St. George. Born in Bern, Switzerland, August Aug-ust 21, 1864, she was one of nine child ren born to Johannes and E li z a b e th Lehmann Schmutz. The family joined the L. D. S. church in 1874 and came to America Amer-ica two years later, arriving in Salt Lake City, July 2, 1876. During the years following they lived in St. George, Washington, and New Harmony, where she met and married Alfred Barlocker Dec. 13, 1886 in the St.-George Temple. Tem-ple. Later they moved to Toquer-ville Toquer-ville and from there to Enterprise where they spent 35 years giving much service in both church and c i vi c affairs. Her husband died Oct. 13, 1943. Since then she has lived wtih her children. Surviving are two sons, Bishop Arthur Barlocker and Ernest Barlocker Bar-locker of Enterprise; five daughters, daught-ers, Mrs. El mer Sandbery of Washington, Mrs. Israel Pace and Mrs. John T. Nielson, St. George; Mrs. Nephi Hunt, Enterprise; Mrs. John Peterson of Delta; one sister sis-ter Mrs. Anna Elise Hunt, Water-flow, Water-flow, New Mexico; 50 grandchildren, grandchild-ren, 43 great-grandchildren. |
