Show Dr. Clarence Cottam Given High Honor Recently High honor came recently to Dr. Clarence Cottam, formerly of St. George and later of Washington, D. C. His appointment as Chief of the Division of Wildlife Research, Re-search, U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has just been announced by Albert M. Day, acting director of that service. Dr. Cottam succeeds Dr. Wm B. Bell who retired August 1. He has been associated with the Service in its various agencies as a biologist since 1929 and has made an enviable record in field research, the coordination of wildlife wild-life conservation with other land and water uses and other phases connected with this division of service. In September, 1934 he became senior biologist and was placed in charge of a section devoted to reseach on economic wildlife problems prob-lems in the Division of Wildlife Research. In June, 1944 he was appointed to a new position as assistant to the director. As Chief of the Division of Wildlife research, Dr. Cottam's headquarters will continue to be in Chicage, 111. at the Central Office of the Fish and Wildlife Service. |
