Show - Twenty-Five Men Leave For Armed Services Group Includes 16 For Army and Nine U. S. Navy Enlistees Washington county is contributing 16 men this month for the U. S. Army," besides the group that have enlisted for Navy duty. Most of the army group are young married mar-ried men, ten from St. George, two from Hurricane, one each from LaVerkin and Enterprise, and two from Short Creek. The men from St. George are Elmo Englestead, Edgar LeRoy Beacham, Franklin Ned Warret, Eldon McArthur, Wesley Ralph Casey, Leland Squire Hirschi, Donald H. Leavitt, James Irwin Wade, Keith H. Iverson and Tal-mage Tal-mage Christenscn, the latter was transferred from Delta. Ward Wright and Merlin C. Hirschi are from Huricane; Walter Hayden Church from LaVerkin; Wendell Winsor Pickering from Enterprise; David R. Bateman and Andrew Arnold Adair from Short Creek; Mr. Adair being transfered. Monday, Feb. 12 is the date set for this group to leave for Fort Douglas where they will be formally assigned to their training locations. Social events are honoring honor-ing them before their departure. Enlisting recently for service in the U. S. Navy are Leslie Cannon, Norman Cox, Ray Callahan, Alpine W. McGregor Jr., Paul Lamar Wilkin, Wil-kin, Clive Burgess, Clark McMul-lin, McMul-lin, Darrel Smith and Dan Hafen. Mr. Hafen is from Santa Clara and the others are from St. George. . The ffist three left Jan. 26 for induction and are training in San Diego. The other six reported Monday as per assignment, but will return this week to await their final call. |
