Show I 1 Dayid Claud Morris Dies 25, Suddenly Saturday ( Morning, February 24th Funeral services were held on Jji Wednesday. Feb. 28, at 5 p.m. for David Claud Morris, 62, who 4 died suddenly at .5:30 Saturday 4 morning, Feb. 24 after two days illness.. Bp. Wilford Schmutz per- 5 sided and Counselor Arthur Cot-tam Cot-tam conducted the services in the St. George Tabernacle. There was Ej. a large attendance and the ros-trum ros-trum was covered with floral i offerings. $Q Mrs. Louis Pulsipher presided at the organ. Music numbers were a vocal duet, "Come Unto Me and Rest" by Mrs. Arthur Paxman and Mrs. Harry Gentry, 7i accompanied by Mrs.. Harry Pearce; "Let the Lower Lights 0 Be Burning" by the male quartet, Grant Harris, Ray Whipple, Ver-non Ver-non Worthen and Marion Bowler, y , with Mrs. Mae A. Pace at the piano; violin solo, "End Of A Perfect Day" by Earl J. Bleak, accompanied by Mrs. Bleak and vocal solo, "I'll Take You Home Again Kathleen" by Ray Garner accompanied by his daughter, 4 Joan. mQ Speakers were Attorney Orval 5 Hafen, Judge Will L. Hoyt of the Fifth Judicial district, under 4 whom Mr. Morris has served as Baliff for the past eight years, i(J and Pres. Harold S. Snow. All 1" three told of their personal association as-sociation with Mr. Morris and with his father, paying tribute to them for their contributions in the community. They told especially es-pecially of Mr. Morris as a stead-M stead-M fast friend and neighbor, a man l who loved children, contributed . generously to community projects fj and provided well for his family. Concluding remarks were by f Counselor Cottam., Prayers were 5 f by Philip Foremaster and Dr. P. m E. Harris. The grave in the St. Iv George city cemetery was dedicated dedi-cated by William Brooks, fl Born Jan. 3, 1883 in St. George, ' he was the eldest of three children child-ren born to David H. and Anna-bella Anna-bella Macfarlane Morris. He completed com-pleted high school in St. George and attended the B. A. C, Cedar City for two years and the U. S. sit a. C, Logan for one year, frhjj On August 11, 1911, he was Chi married in Beaver to Artie Misha -,0, Macfarlane of Cedar City. He (Continued on page eight) Claud Morris Funeral (Continued from first page) was engaged in mining operations in Beaver county and elsewhere for several years, finally moving to St. George to make their permanent per-manent home. He has since been in the cattle business until 1944 when ill health forced him to sell his interests. Surviving besides his widow are one son, Sgt. Mack Morris, who is with the rehabilitation engineers engin-eers in England; five daughters, Mrs. G. J. Thomas and Miss Beth Morris of Los Angeles; Mrs. Raymond Ray-mond Rust of Indianapolis, Ind., and Misses Charlotte and Joyce Morris of St. George; three grandchildren; grand-children; one sister, Mrs. George Brooks, and a brother, Wm. M. Morris; also Mrs. Helen F. Hafen who the Morrises took as a small child and reared as their own, all of St. George. |
