Show Funeral Services Held Sunday For 92 Year-Old Hyrum Leany Funeral services were held in the St. George stake tabernacle Sunday-, May 6, at 5:30 p.m. for Hyrum Leany, 92, who died at his home Monday after a short illness. Counselor Maiben Ashby of the West ward bishopric conducted con-ducted the services. Music numbers were, vocal solos, "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" by Ray Garner, and "End Of A Perfect Day" by Ruth Miles, with Ada Cannon accompanying; "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" by Vernon Worthen, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. Lucile Pitch-forth. Pitch-forth. Mrs. Winnie Seegmiller furnished the organ music. Bp. James Andrus of the West ward was the first speaker. He reviewed the life history of Mr. Leany, second white child born in Parowan, Utah, and boy pioneer pion-eer to Washington county. He broke ground for the West ward chapel, now nearing completion, and made the first cash contribution contribu-tion to that building. Bp. Andrus also paid tribute to Mr. Leany for his faith, courage and fine example to other ward members and read a poem written by Mrs. Leonora Worthen. ,Dr. W. J. Reichmann and Pres. Harold Snow both sermonized on the eternity of life and praised Mr. Leany and his family for their fine contributions to com-muntiy com-muntiy life, both religiously and civicly, and their full understanding understand-ing of the ultimate purposes of life. Prayers were by John T. Woodbury Wood-bury Jr. and George F. Whitehead White-head and the grave in the St. George City cemetery was dedicated dedi-cated by David Stirling of Leeds. |
