Show Garth Cottam Completes Basic Flying Work MOFFETT FIELD, August 15 Garth B. Cottam, 21, of Veyo, today completed his basic flying work at Moffett Field, and is to be graduated with a class of 180 Aviation Cadets to an Army Air Corps advanced school for the final 10-week-period of training, leading to his commission as a second lieutenant and pilot in the Army Air Corps Reserve. Son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Cottam of Veyo, he is a graduate of Dixie high school, St. George, and attended Dixie junior college. Cottam came to Moffett Field on June 3 from Santa Maria, Calif., where he underwent 10 weeks of preliminary flight instruction in-struction at the Allan-Hancock College of Aeronautics, one of the Air Corps' civilian elementary flying fly-ing schools. 1 With the completion of his advanced flying work, he will receive re-ceive his Air Corps wings and an assignment to an Air Corps tactical tac-tical unit, or he will study to become be-come a flight instructor for one of the Army flying schools. |
