Mathis have received word of the birth of a daughter on February 13 to Mr. and Mrs. Gar Andrus of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Josephus Riding and Mrs. Kate B. Empey united last Thursday Thurs-day evening in honoring their mother, Alice Barlow Bleak with a birthday anniversary dinner for the immediate family members at the Riding home. Mrs. Bleak is one of the Pioneer Dixie women and was 82 years old Tuesday. Children and grandchildren remembered re-membered her with many tokens of love and appreciation. Mr. and Mrs. John Reid Laurit-zen Laurit-zen and children were St. George visitors Monday from Short Creek. Emil Blankenagel of the Grazing Graz-ing division and Tone Foremaster, both of St. George, attended the Stock Growers' conference at Kingman, Arizona recently. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Mayhew of Pasadena, Calif., are here visiting visit-ing Mrs. Mayhew's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Huntsman. Mrs. Susie Atkin and Mrs. Mae Harris left Wednesday morning for Los Angeles where they will stay about two weeks visiting their children. -V. -w- !( TP Mr. and Mrs. Tom Young left Sunday afternoon upon receiving word of the sudden death of Mrs. Young's father in Denver, Colo. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Hewlett of Corinne, Utah, were St. George visitors over the week-end. Miss Jean Cannon of Salt Lake City returned home Monday after visiting in St. George since last Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Cannon where she lived while teaching in St. George. .V. .St. 1i- "if 'If Mrs. Mary R. Bowler was hostess host-ess Wednesday evening to members mem-bers of the Three-W Rook club. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Riding and two sons visited in St. George Saturday and Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Josephus Riding and Mrs. Maude Cottam, and in Washington with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Jolley. Mr. Riding and Mr. Jolley were associated as workers in Pioche, before the lat-ter's lat-ter's injury nearly two years ago, and from which he is gradually recovering. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Frei motored to Panguitch to visit over the week-end with . Dr. and Mrs. Wyatt W. Miles. Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Peterson were guests last Saturday of Mrs. LaPrele Snow, returning to Cedar City Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Sevy of Cedar City visited in St. George Saturday with Mrs. Jos. T. Atkin Jr., and Mrs. Nettie K. Morris. Mrs. Morris Brooks and two children arrived Monday from Provo to visit for ten days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Miles, and other relatives. Miss Berniece Miles entertained her sewing circle Wednesday evening. eve-ning. M. - Mr. and Mrs. Stewart H. Richards Rich-ards and daughter left Wednesday Wednes-day for a brief vacation with relatives rel-atives in Midvale, Utah. Williams returned Sunday from Mesa, Arizona, where they have spent the past two weeks doing Temple work. They will remain in St. George until late spring, also doing do-ing Temple work. Mrs. Williams is a sister of Claude Thompson. George Kemen Stringham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ammon String-ham String-ham under went surgery in the local hospital, Feb. 14. Miss Gena Higbee entertained ten young friends at a birthday anniversary dinner and party at her home last Thursday evening honoring Miss Carol Cottam. Games followed the dinner. Decorations Dec-orations were in red and white, with Valentine favors. Oscar Schwapp and Frank Baldwin Bald-win stopped over in St. George Monday on their way from Alton to the Arizona Strip. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bodily they reported re-ported better than three feet of snow in upper Kanab and still snowing when they left. They figure this will be an unusually good year for the sheep and cattle ranges. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cannon spent. Wednesday in Cedar City visiting relatives. The S-10 club met Monday with Mrs. Ross Harper as hostess. Following Fol-lowing dinner at the Arrowhead cafe the girls spent the evening sewing at the apartment of Mrs. Harper's mother.
