Show Center Ward Relief Society Holds Unique Meeting Tuesday Beginning the year's activities with no cash in the treasury, no equipment and no materials, the Center ward Relief Society with Amber Schmutz, president, staged a Relief Society Stork Shower on Tuesday afternoon in the basement base-ment of the Tabernacle. There were 67 members and guests present. pres-ent. Included in the program were two vocal solos by Melba Baker accompanied by Mae A. Pace, and a playlet, "The Birth of the Center Cen-ter Ward", especially arranged for the occasion and directed by Anna Brooks Taylor, who read the script. Carrying young Mr. South ward, portrayed by LaVeme De-Swan, De-Swan, and charming Miss East i (Continued on page eight) I Center Ward Meeting (Continued from first paee) ward, Francis Crandall, through courtship and marriage and the eventual birth of their daughter, Center ward with Dr. St. George stake (Althea Hafen) on the case, furnished laughs continuously. This was climaxed by the bringing bring-ing in of the layette basket filled to overflowing with the contributions contribu-tions for the Stork Shower. Besides generous contributions in cash, the basket was loaded with quilt bats, quilt blocks, and materials for many uses as well as scissors, pins, needles, thread, thumb tacks, quilt frame clamps and other items. A set of quilting quilt-ing frames had been previously contributed by Mrs. Chas. Whipple, Whip-ple, and one set by Mrs. Paul Hafen. After the program a lunch prepared pre-pared by the officers and teachers teach-ers was served. Pres. Schmutz and her associate officers express hearty appreciation for the wholehearted whole-hearted support given on this occasion oc-casion and ask "who could say the spirit of helpfulness and cooperation co-operation is dead?", when they see what was accomplished at this meeting, which brought in gifts from nearly every home in the ward and makes it possible for the Center ward Relief Society So-ciety to do their part in the stake welfare program in this respect. |
