Show Republicans Select Senatorial Delegates, County Candidates Washington county Tepulicans met at the courthouse Saturday morning at 10:30 to elect delegates dele-gates to the state senatorial convention con-vention to be held in Cedar City next Thursday and to nominate candidates for state representatives, representa-tives, four and two-year commissioners commis-sioners and county attorney. The county was well represented repre-sented with delegates present from all districts. Harmony prevailed with the delegates putting in two of their nominees by acclimation. These two were F. J. Bowler, representative, and Orval Hafen, county attorney, both these men are out for the office they now hold and the republicans believe that in these two men they have to outstanding nominees. Nominees for the county commissioners com-missioners were, four-year term, R. M. Reber and two-year term, Heber Hirscbi. In naming Mr. Reber for their candidate the republicans point to his record as Chamber of Commerce president, presi-dent, General chairman of the Homecoming committee and his experience as a business man. Party leaders state that they believe be-lieve that there should be one business man on the commissioners commis-sioners board. Mr. Hirschi is the representative from the east end of the county. His backers declare that he is qualified in every way for the position. Senatorial Delegates Those nominated to attend the Senatorial convention to be held in Cedar City next Thursday are as follows: David Hirschi, Carl Moss, B. C. Farnsworth, Harry Slack, D. C. Watson, Walter Cannon, J. W. Imlay, Sam Fullerton, Alvin All-red, All-red, F. J. Bowler and Homer En-glestead. En-glestead. County Conunillec Mayor Albert E. Miller was appointed to ead the county committee. com-mittee. He will be assisted by Orval Hafen, secretary; A. D. Wallis, assistant secretary; I3arr Musser, treasurer; and the following fol-lowing commltte members; Rex Gardner, James R. Bunker. Vernon Vern-on Leavitt. Joseph Ray. Edward McMullin. Elmer Taylor, Hartley Gifford, Martin Anderson, and Chauncey Sandberg. Mrs. Elizabeth L. Cox was up-appointed up-appointed to lead the county remand rem-and Mrs. Elma Lund Woodbury. ice-chairman. |
