Show Gerald Taylor Jackson Dies Monday; Services Held Wednesday Gerald Taylor Jackson, son of Theo Taylor and Fern Slack Jackson Jack-son (now Mrs. Harry Averett), died in the McGregor hospital , Monday of peritonitis, following a j second operation. j He was born in Fredonia. Ariz.. ! December 13. 1921. the eldest of three children. While he was small his family moved to Toquorville where he received his first three vears of schooling. Serious adhesions developed following an appendectomy in March, making a second operation advisable three weeks aco. He seemed to recover from this until Sunday noon when peritonitis do- . veloped. Services were held at the stake. Tabernacle at 5:.V p.m. Wedn-f- i dav under direction of the F.ast 1 wa'rd bishopric. Bp. Arthur Cot tarn conducting. . Speakers were Newel! Frei. Mr. Frei spoke of his close association with Gerald in his school work, of helping him to meet his life problems pro-blems in the absence of his father, and of the cooperation of Mrs. Averett, the boy's mother. Bishop Slack reviewed the life of the deceased and talked on religious principles. Doctor Reichmann told of the life of Mrs. Averett and her children since they came to St. George, paying tribute to Gerald's mother. Bishop Cottam reviewed his association with the family as hospital patient and as Bishop and paid tribute to Mrs. Averett and her three children. Prayers were by Pres. W. O. Bentley Bent-ley and George Brooks Jr. Burial was in the St. George cemetery. Patriarch George W. Worthen dedicated the grave. Surviving besides his mother, are his brother, Martin, sister, Carol, his father, who resides in Fredonia, a step-father, Harry Averett, a grandmother, Mrs. Martin Mar-tin Slack, of Toquerville. Many near relatives and friends from Toquerville and surrounding settlements set-tlements were in attendance at the services. |
