Show Church Security Meet At Cedar Draws Record Crowd From Dixie Of the 388 attending the meetings meet-ings held Sunday in Cedar City under the direction of the presiding presid-ing Bishopric of the L.D.S. church, the count showed 97 were from St. George f take. These regional meetings were called for the stakes of this southern division and included in-cluded representatives from Mo-apa, Mo-apa, St. George. Zion Park, Kanab, Panguitch, Beaver and Parowan stakes, with the latter as hosts. Sessions were held at 9 a.m. with the Presiding Bishopric in charge of the program. The three members, mem-bers, LeGrande Richards, Marvin O. Ashton and Joseph Worthen were all present along with Harold B. Lee, head of the church Security Secur-ity board and others of his co-laborers. co-laborers. Meetings were held in Cedar City's attractive First ward chapel. The keynote of the sessions, not only stressed the general objectives of Security work in the church, says Bishop Snow, but urged human and religious tolerance. Wards were instructed to assume full responsibility of charity and border-line cases. They were told not to evade the situation but to meet conditions as they arose and to avoid creating a floating population. The St. George stake presidency noted with satisfaction that the high percent of attendance of their constituents included a full representation rep-resentation of the Bishoprics of every ward in the stake except Mt. Trumbull, and they were duly excused. There was also the Presidency Presi-dency and security leader from j each of the ward relief society j organizations, and a gratifying, number from each of the stake boards including the relief society. also the appointed security work leaders of the stake. Lee, and other speakers at this convention. vc should not fail in our responsibility in Security work", is the opinion expressed by Bishop Snow. j The visitors to the convention had taken their lunches with them j and were invited onto the cool lawns surrounding the chapel for the two hour recess from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Here the officials of the Parowan stake served them cold drinks and extras. Their courteous treatment was greatly appreciated. |
