Show "Robin Hood" Will Be Presented As Dixie College Opera "Robin Hood" by De Koven, will be presented as the annual school opera of the Dixie junior college on April 21-23, in the college auditorium. audi-torium. A matinee will be given on April 20. Joseph W. McAllister, director, declares that the opera is going to be an outstanding production. The cast has been carefully selected and contains some of the best musical talent in St. George. The title role "Robin Hood" is being played by Leland Lamoreaux Mr. Lamoreaux played the leading comedian part in the opera "The Beggar Student", which was given here last year. The character of Maid Marian is being portrayed by Mary McGregor, Mc-Gregor, a student of the Brigham Young University. Miss McGregor played a leading role in "The Beggar Beg-gar Student", and has also taken part in the operas presented by the Brigham Young university. Anne-belle Anne-belle is being taken by Rhoda Andrus, former student of Dixie, who is teaching school at Rock-ville Rock-ville this year. She has taken prominant roles in the operas presented by the Dixie college in the past. Other characters are: Sheriff of Nottingham, Pres. B. Glen Smith; Sir Guy of Gisborne, Charles M. Merkley; Will Scarlett. Otto Fife. State highway patrolman; Friar Tuck, Allen Barker, of Escalante; and Dame Durdon. a widow, Man,' Lou Wells of Logandale. The chorus is made up of villagers, vil-lagers, milkmaids, outlaws, foresters, fores-ters, archers and peddlers. The scene is in England at the time of Richard the First. Members on the staff are: Earl J. Bleak, orchestration; Clara Woodhouse, accompanist; Miss Luana Whipple, assistant accom-paniest, accom-paniest, and Afton Peters, assistant assist-ant stage director. Some of the costumes are being made by Miss Emma Nielson. The art department of the college, col-lege, under the direction of Ralph Huntsman, is constructing the scenery. |
