Show HURRICANE MRS. KATHARINK LARSON Reporter Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Sand-berg Sand-berg attended the banquet at St. George last week given by the Southern Utah Civic clubs. Mr. Sand berg was elected county representative to this association. , A party was given Sunday evening even-ing at the home of M'iss Shirley Spendlove- tor the students w-, returned tg Uielr schools after th holidays, Among those who were honored guests were Miss Ramona Wood, Keith Barber, Marion Hinton, Clell Covington, and Hall Bradshaw. Mr. and Mrs. Paul H. Gates spent Saturday at St. George with Mr. Gates' parents. Merrill Fauson, Miss Wilda Waite and Miss Emily Schoen-hals, Schoen-hals, teachers at the Hurricane high school returned last Sunday Sun-day afternoon from Salt Lake City where they had gone for the Christmas recess. They were forced to wait three hours on the Black Ridge because of the swiftly drifting snow. Midnight travelers sought shelter Sunday night at the Hurricane Hur-ricane hotel because the roads north of Anderson's ranch were closd by heavy snow drifts. Stewart Knowlton, resident engineer en-gineer on the Berry Springs road said that the contractors should have begun work January 4 but due to the conditions of the roads north of Hurricane, the heavy machinery necessary to road building could not be brought in at the present time. Mr. and Mrs. Lafayette Steheli, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Naegle, and Dr. and Mrs. E. Clark Mclntire entertained twelve couples at a dlightful New Year's eve dinner party at the Mclntire home, December De-cember 31 The guests were seated seat-ed at one long table which was laid for the . following: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jolley of Springdale, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hirschi, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Stansworth, Mr. and Mrs Glenn Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gates, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Graff, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Herb-ert Isom, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Workman and Mrs. and Mrs. Dee-man Dee-man B. Bennett. The evening was sent playing five hundred. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Williams won high score prizes. |
