Show MESQUITE, NEV. MRS. MARY FREHNER Reporter A Kangaroo court was held here Tuesday evening. Tuesday afternoon, Oscar Abbott and Sheriff Sher-iff Delias Barnum made a trip to Logandale to serve papeTS on Mr. Thomas Cottam of St. George, who has just recently been married, mar-ried, for breach of promise to Mrs. Emma Leavitt. Mr. Cottam appeared at his court that evening even-ing with his attorney, Harmon C. Tobler of Bunkervllle. . Willam E. Abbott, Justice of the Peace, acted as Judge. After two hours of comedy trial that kept the crowded hall laughing continually, the jury gave a unanimous decision of "Guilty" and a fine of five dollars to buy the peanuts and candy for the crowd and two hours of free dancing. Born a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. John Bowers at Cedar City, Utah. Mrs. Bowers returned to her home here on Friday. A birthday party was given in honor of Leonard Reber, on Feb-ruray Feb-ruray 4 at his home. Mr. and Mts. Merrill Barnum and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Barnum Barn-um of Ploche spent Saturday and Sunday here visiting with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Aschel Barnum. The Virgin Wiley high school basketball team played a game with Overton high at Overton on Friday. The score was 27-37 in favor of Overton. Leon Frehner is here visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Frehner for a few days. ' He has been employed during the I past year touring the state, check-i check-i ing and weighing cars. , Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Leavitt of j Pine Valley are here visiting i relatives. |
