Show GOOD PRY LAND CHOPS j J. T. Spencer was here the latter part of last week with some very f:ne specimens of dry land crops which he had grow n in the Short Creek district on the Arizona "strip." The specimens included wheat, oats, barley, and corn, all of which compared favorably with irrigated samples. The grain averaged about ten bushels to the acre, but Mr Spencer Spen-cer says it has averaged as high as 23 bushels to the acre in more favorable years. ( Rainfall this year was below the average.) Some ot the corn cobs had Mn kernels on them by actual count, says Mr. Spencer. Mr. Spencer says he plants bis wheat, oats and barley in double vows three feet apait. and finds this the best method. - |
