Show ARE YOU DOING YOUR PART? If through cooperation, or by any other means we can improve Dixie or make it a more attractive place in which to live, then we should do it. The P. T. A. is now sponsoring sponsor-ing a clean-up and beautifying campaign. Likewise the ChanVber of Commerce is endeavoring to raise money with which to promote Dixie. Both of these organizations deserve de-serve our support, and should get it. The local Chamber of Commerce officers are comprised of well known local men who have established reputations for integrity. They are giving their time and considerable money to help better our community. In return they are asking that we give them the support they are entitled to. At present there are only sixty-eight citizens of this community com-munity that are mem'bers, even though the mtembership fee is only $3. President Mathis reported, at the meeting the other night, that Cedar City had a membership of 300 and their fee was $10. As a booster for St. George that puts the editor on a spot. One hears considerable comment about how St. George is never able to accomplish anything like Cedar does because be-cause the people of this community will not cooperate, and this critisism is more or less true, with the exception of where Dixie College is concerned. On this one problem the community came to the front in splendid style. Now the Chamlber of Commerce is offering an opportunity opportun-ity for each and everyone to do his part. The sum: of three dollars is not too much. With such a fee the memr bership should be increased to 300. We can at least match Cedar as to number of members, even if we can't as to the amount of money. We have the climate, we have the scenery and we have the friendliness, now let's back it with a' little money and cooperation co-operation and see what results we can obtain. o . |
