Show UTAH CATTLE VALUES FIXED U. S. Statistician Estimates Total Worth at Over Forty-two Millions The value of livestock on farms and ranges of Utah on January 1 was $42,348,000, it was estimated in the monthly report of Frank Andrews, statistian in Utah for the United States department of agriculture, issued Tuesday. The report covers cattle,, sheep, hogs, horses and mules. On January 1, 1930, the report states the estimated value was $57,020,000; on January 1, 1929, the value was $65,866,000, and on January 1, 1925, the value was $48,437,000. "The cattle in Utah are estimated esti-mated in number about the same as in 1930, approximately 444,000," Mr. Andrews stated. "On January 1, 1929, they were estimated at 460,000, and in 1925 at 507,000. The number of milk cows this year is estimated as about the same as in 1930, or 100,000 head, compared with 97.000 in 1929 and 87,000 in 1925. "Sheep, however, are estimated in number at 2.926,000 as compared com-pared with 2,813,000 in 1930; 2,785,000 in 1929, and 2,355,000 in 1925. ' "The number of hogs is estimated esti-mated as 63,000 as compared with 70,000 a year ago, 80,000 in 1929, 98,000 in 1929, and 64,000 in 1925. "Horses have continued to decrease. de-crease. The number now is estimated esti-mated at 91,000, as compared with 95,000 last year and 110,000 in 1926. " |
