Show ST. GEORGE CAMP by Del Mar Nelson A program given by Dixie College Col-lege students wasthe issue at' camp Friday evening, February 16th. It consisted of song and dance numbers and sketches from the play "The Importance of Being Earnest." The play was under the direction of Miss Thurston. Thurs-ton. Those participating in the presentation were: Ivan Hunt, leading man, Ruth Milne, leading lead-ing lady, and Emily Brooks and Aileen Lyons, leading parts. Barnard Bar-nard Seegmdller was advertising manager tot the play. A song by Violet Wjorthen and Vera onaKespeare; ana a dance by Fawn Schmutz completed the program. Camp Superintendent J. C. Tol-ton Tol-ton along "with a Washington County Agricultural agent recently recent-ly met in a .meeting with property proper-ty owners who have land adjacent adja-cent to the 'CCC work completed on the San'tja Clara Creek. This work consists of rock flood control con-trol barriers' along the river bed. Among otlier things discussed during the meeting was the importance im-portance of 'planting willows along the rock barriers now built there The reason for planting the. willows was for the protection of the barriers. The property owners agreed that they would secure a number of Hardwood trees and plant wood lots. It was decided that Ash, Locust and Walnut trees would be the preferrable kind to plant. In all probability several thousand trees of the hardwood variety will be planted this year. An illustrated lecture, the subject sub-ject being forestry, was givon at camp, Tuesday, February 19th. Commanding Officer Charles E. Larkln spent a few days In Salt Lake during the week. Dr. F. K. Root recently roturned from a visit to Salt Lake. Captain Jackson, Jack-son, of Kanosh camp was a weekend week-end visitor at our camp. |
