Show TRIO CHARGED WITH DAMAGING LIGHTS AT LANDING FIELD A young girl of St. George and two members of the Dob Orton orchestra are under investigation by A. R. Gere of the federal bureau bu-reau of investigation for the alleged al-leged damaging of boundary lights at the landing field here. Globes were broken on December 31 and the matter was reported to Sheriff Wm. Brooks who made inquiry and located the guilty parties. The case is now pending and it has not yet been decided whether it will be prosecuted by the federal or state courts. According to the officers of-ficers a signed statement was secured se-cured from the girl. The charge to be preferred is either trespassing or malicious mischief. Considerable trouble Is being had by the service men who keep emergency landing fields in repair, and the government is determined de-termined to put a stop to the pranks. The field here is maintained solely by the government, and under un-der a strict interpretation of the law, anyone caught on the field, unless on business, is subject to prosecution. The local field, by reason of its location, is especially hazardous, and a pilot making a forced landing at night, unless all lights are burning, is likely to crash over the bluff. |
