Show MANY GATHER FOR ANNUAL DEERHUNT First Snow Fell Monday and Tuesday; Deer in Better Condition Than Ever Before, Be-fore, According to Ranger Deer hunting season in Utah officially opened today, and prospects pros-pects for hunters to get bucks are fairly bright, according to Forest Ranger Ben Swapp, who was down from Pine Valley on Wednesday. In his survey of the range this year, he declared, he had seen more and bigger bucks than any year previous, and the deer are in excellent condition. The first snow of the season fell the fore part of the week. About five inches covers the ground at Pine Valley, and four inches at Grass Valley. There is very little lit-tle snow at Enterprise, Pinto and Central, but on top of Pine Valley mountain the snow is estimated es-timated to be from eight to ten 'inches deep. ' "' A large influx of hunters from California came in Tuesday and "Wednesday, 80 being registered at the St. George .Museum by Jim Johnstun. This, he reported report-ed ,is only about half the number num-ber that came in last year. An exceptionally large number num-ber of St. George men and boys are out today, and others are planning to go out over the week end.
