Show ST. GEOKCiE DISTRICT B. S. A. TO REMAIN WITH Z. P. COUNCIL, The St. George Dis-trict committee B. S. A. met last Sunday afternoon. President W. O. Bentley explained this object of the meeting as twofold, first, to hear the report of President Jos. K. Nicholes, who with President Walter Cannon attended a meeting at Salt Lake during conference to consider con-sider what plan was acceptable for remaining with the Zion Park Council; Coun-cil; secondly to reorganize the District Dist-rict committee. President Nicholes reported the result of the Salt Lake meeting. Said the officials at Salt Lake were anxious that the St. George district remain with the Zion Park council, preferably under the B. A. C. plan This Mr. Nicholes agreed to subject to the approval of the District Committee. Com-mittee. Mr. Bentley read a letter from J. H. Maughan, president of Zion Park Council, saying that the B. A. C. school authorities- are agreeable to releasing Mr. John A. Young for the position of scout executive. Also another letter from Mr. Maughan relative re-lative to scout activities. Mr. Bentley then read the minutes of meeting held at Salt Lake, April 6, with representatives- of Zion Park Council, partly as follows: The following budget for Zion Park Council for 192 6 was approved: Expenses to date $500; Executive's salary, May 15 to Dec. 31, 1926, less six weeks at summer school, six months, $1150; training schools. $100; telephone and telegraph $25; stenographer help, $50; office sup-piles, sup-piles, $25; postage and stationery $50; travel, $300; a total of $2200; less half year salary of executive paid by school, $1450. It was also agreed to employ Mr. John A. Young of Cedar City as scout executive. While Mr. Young's salary would not start until May 15, it was agreed that he should assume the position of scout executive at once. A discussion of the scout executive's time was held and it was further agreed that he should give monthly service as follows during the school season: One week end to cover Hurricane Hur-ricane and St. George districts; another an-other to cover Beaver-Milford districts; dist-ricts; another week end to cover Cedar Ced-ar districts; another to cover Paro-wan Paro-wan and Kanab, with Moapa to be placed on a correspondence basis with possible annual visit. It was further agreed to accept the following budget for 1927: Execu" tive's salary $2100, training schools $200, telephone and telegraph $25, stenographic help $200, office supplies sup-plies $100, postage and stationary $100, travel $600, miscellaneous $95, a total of $3420; less half year salary paid by school, $1500, $1920. The District committee agreed unanimously un-animously to support this plan and that we affiliate with Zion Park Council. A motion to remit $300 at once to Z. P. C. headquarters was unanimously unanim-ously carried. When the question of reorganization reorganiza-tion of the District council was brought up, Mr. Bentley expressed his desire to resign owing to a press of other work. This was following a motion that the present committee continue to serve. Other members wished to resign also. Finally after pressure had been brought to bear on Mr. Bentley, he agreed to remain as chairman of the district committee providing all present members of the committee would also pledge themselves them-selves to continue to serve; this they agreed to do, and motion was unanimously unan-imously carried to this effect. It was also agreed that regular meetings of the committee be held on the last Wednesday in eaeh month, after which the committee adjourned. |
