Show CLOUDBURST DIMES ROAD GONSTJMJCTIDN Storm and Floods Heaviest in Santa Clara Creek Vicinity; Vi-cinity; Highway Construction Construc-tion Damaged on Monday Between $1500 and ?2000 damage was done by the storm and floods Monday to the federal fed-eral highway now under construction con-struction between St. George and the Indian reservation, according accord-ing to D. F. Larson, resident engineer. en-gineer. Several sections of the highway high-way were taken out within three miles west of Santa Clara, and one mile east of the chocking station, a gravel dip with cement ce-ment apron and a large portion of the newly constructed roadway road-way were swept away. Completion of the contract for the improvement and construction construc-tion of the ten miles between here and the reservation would have been between 20 and 30 days late, according to Mr. Larson, Lar-son, but the damage done by the storm will result in approximately approxi-mately an additional week's delay. de-lay. However, storms did not damage dam-age highways to the extent that any serious halt was made in travel, except for a short time Monday night. Several wagons, harnesses and some feed belonging to road workers were washed away but practically everything was recovered. The overflow of the Santa Clara creek and a wash this side, of the lava beds resulted in a large amount of damage to fields in that vicinity. In some places, it is reported, crops were covered four feet deep with silt, brush, trees and boulders. The rainfall at St. George was heavy, but did little or no damage.
