The charts will be portable so as to enable officers to make tests at any point. They will be so marked off as to make possible pos-sible the carrying out of the state law governing headlights. Testing of lamps will be done with the view of making the lights conform with terms of the state law as follows: "The use of glaring or dazzling dazz-ling lights is strictly forbidden. No light shall be considered 'glaring or dazzling' if none of the main bright portion of its beam rises above a horizontal plane passing through the lamp center parallel to the level road upon which the loaded vehicle stands, and in no case higher than 42 inches at a point 75 feet ahead of the vehicle. Any device other than headlamps, spotlamps or auxiliary lamps projecting a beam of light of an intensity greater than 2 5 candle-power, candle-power, must be so directed that no part of the beam will strike the level surface on which the vehicle stands at a distance of over 50 feet from the vehicle." |
