Show DIXIE ALUMNI ANNUAL BANQUET VERY SUCCESSFUL The alumni banquet of the Dixie college was held last Friday evening in the gym, there being about 300 present. The tables were decorated with sweet pea blossoms. Lee Esplin was in charge and introduced B. Glen Smith as toastmaster, a position posi-tion which Mr. Smith ably and humorously filled. The banquet itself was excellent, much credit being due Mrs. May Ward Hunt, the Dixie College domestic domes-tic science instructor, and her able corps of assistants for this excellence. Musical numbers, besides the orchestra, orch-estra, consisted of vocal solos by Bird Terry and Dil worth Snow; vocal duets by the Misses Mary and Lillian Atkin, Alta Holt and Laverna Webb. Toasts- were responded to as follows: fol-lows: "The Opportunities of Dixie," President Jos. K. Nieholes; "The Call of Dixie," President Edw. H. Snow; "Dixie's Contribution to Education," President Edgar M. Jenson; "Dixie to Grow," Mariam Ahlstrom; "Pledge of the College Graduates," Mary Graham, and "What the Alumni is Doing for Dixie," Wayne C. Gardner. On motion of President Nieholes the following committee of five was selected to" draft a constitution for the alumni associaion and to officer it for the coming year: Le Roy H. Cox, B. Glen Smith. Miss Mabel Jarvis. Miss Katherine Miles and Wayne C. Gardner. Gard-ner. A dance followed the banquet in Watson's open air pavilion which was well attended and thoroughly enjoyed. |
