Show TOURIST BUREAU BOMS HERE1 Predicts Auto Travel Increase to Utah This Coming Summer. L. W. Kayes, who was recently selected as manager of the newly formed Convention and Tourist Bureau in the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce was a Sunday visitor in St. George and accompanied by his mother were registered at the Hotel Snow. Mr. Hayes stated that the business busi-ness interests of Salt Lake City are to make a strenuous drive for a bond issue this spring of one million mil-lion dollars for erecting a civic auditorium that will not only care for conventions but will have a theater to which all the large legitimate productions now so prevalent pre-valent in Los Angeles can come. (Continued on page 4) TOURIST BUREAU HEAD VISITOR (Continued from page 1) This feature will be welcomed by the entire state. The Convention and Tourist will be operated as a department cf the chamber of commerce and will be sporuored by both the chamber of commerce and the Salt Lake Hotel association. It is planned to make a very aggressive campaign to make Salt Lake City one of the most prominent convention cities in the United States. Even cities in the south part of the state such as St. George 'are bound to get much good from big conventions held in the state because delegates driving from California will make this their stopping place. The Salt Lake Hotel association is planning in the very near fu ture to enlarge to the point of forming an Intermountain Hotel Association taking in the states of Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, with central headquarters at Salt Lake City. This association will not only be a protective 'association for hotel interests, but will major in drawing more tourists here for longer stays. Utah with its natural scenery and having the newest of the national na-tional parks and monuments, should enjoy a greater travel each succeeding year, and while conditions condi-tions are a little off this winter, Mr. Hays predicts a large travel increase over all routes in Utah during the coming summer. |
