Duffin of Salt Lake City came in last Saturday to spend several days visiting and on business Orvel Lamoreaux of Paragoona is visiting relatives and friends here. He came in last Thursday. Junius and Vernon Romney of Salt Lake City were business visitors here the fore part of the week. G. A. Dodge left for his home at Ucon. Idaho, this morning after spending several days here visiting his father-in-law. Charles Empey and other oth-er relatives. Carl W. Johnsen had the misfortune to lose the top of the middle finger of his left hand Tuesday while working for the Mid-American Oil Co., who are drilling here. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Caldwell and family are here from Vernal to spend the winter. They like our warm, sunshiny sun-shiny weather and speak well of our Dixie climate. Pres. Edw. H. Snow came in last Friday to spend a few days in the county on business connected with the state board of equalization, of which he is chairman. Heber Ashworth, a brother of Mrs. Laura A. Gates, city treasurer, died at his home in Beaver Tuesday. Funeral services will be held Friday. Mrs. Gates will attend. A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Reu-ben Stration. Nov. 11; the baby died the same night. Mrs. Stratton is do- ing as well as can be expected. The 'X parents have the sympathy of the community. The new Arrowhead hotel has in stalled its heating plant, which appears ap-pears to be a very fine one. The boiler boil-er capacity is 15.000 feet radiation, about 500 feet of which will now only be necessary. We call the attention of our readers to the Professional Card of Ellis J. Worthen and Mrs. Louie Henrie returned the latter part of the week from St. George, where they have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Judd. Mrs. Judd, who has been quite ill, is reported report-ed to be better. Garfield Co. News. Word has been received here that Miss Jennie Empey of this city and Mr. B. E. Lovette of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Wyo-ming, were married at that place, Nov. 3rd. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Empey of this City and has spent the past eigteen months in the employ of the Union Pacific Railroad Co. Mrs. Ida McArthur came in last week from Salt Lake City, intending to spend two weeks here visiting, but she left Sunday night for Fresno, Cal., on learning that a son of her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Joseph Woodbury, had been badly injured about the head by an auto and was quite ill. She will spend the winter there. Andrew N. Winsor got his deer, making 102 shot by local people. The total killed by Iron and Washington counties, according to figures by Forest Supervisor Olsen, D. C. Watson, county coun-ty game warden and Bryan Lund, president of the Dixie Rod & Gun club is 609. This does not include those taken by people passing through. Mr. and Mrs. P. W. Nelson returned return-ed home Monday from the Kiabab mountain, where Mr. Nelson has been running a sawmill the past summer and for several years previous. He had the misfortune just before closing down the mill to get his left hand badly bad-ly lacerated. Mr. Nelson had previously prev-iously lost a thumb and three fingers in similar accidents. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Johnson of Adamsville, temple workers who have spent six years working in the St. George temple, celebrated their 63rd wedding day, working in the temple last Friday. They were the recipients M )f hearty congratulations from their "Tellowworkers and were presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers by the temple president, George F. White-, White-, head. Mr. and Mrs. Leone Hickman of Ogden are here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Hickman's mother, Mrs. Mary A. Whitehead. Mr. and Mrs. Nathanial Smith came in Tuesday from Salt Lake City to attend at-tend the funeral of Mrs. Smith's mother. moth-er. Mrs. Mary A. Whitehead. A birthday surprise party was given for Misses LaRee Milne and Virginia Jarvis at the home of Miss Emma Thompson last Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. June Chadburn of Central were visitors here the latter part of last week. Mrs. Chadburn and two youngest children remained here. Max Barton, the boy who was sever-ly sever-ly injured by being kicked on his head by a donkey, left the local hospital Tuesday. He is reported to be recovering re-covering nicely. Mrs. Alma McGregor, her son Lorenzo Loren-zo and daughter Mary, Mrs. Vivian Woodbury, Mrs. Myrtle Whitehead and Finley Judd attended the funeral of Jos. H. Armstrong at Cedar City Sunday. Sun-day.
