Show WORK OF J. H. WALLIS PRAISED IN RESOLUTIONS BY U.P.H.A. The following set of resolutions were received by the News last Friday. The Executive Committee of the Utah Public Health Assocition met at 4:30 o'clock, Monday afternoon, October Octob-er 10th, in the Hotel Utah. Present were Dr. John A. Wpdtsoe, President, Dr. C. N. Jensen, Miss Kate Williams, Mr. Edward H. Snow, Mrs. Levi Edgar Young and James H. Wallis. Excuses were presented for Dr. H. G. Merrill, Dr. O. K. Hanson, Alex Hedquist, Mrs. Jacob A. Kahn and Mrs. Clarissa S. Williams. The Minutes of the meeting held June 8th were read and on motion of Mr. Wallis, seconded by Miss Williams they were approved and ordered filed. The Committee appointed at the last meeting, consisting of Dr. John A. Widtsoe, Miss Kate Williams and Dr. C. N. Jensen, to draw up proper resolutions reso-lutions to Mr. Wallis for the wonderful wonder-ful piece of work he has done for the public health work in building up the Utah Public Health Association reported re-ported on their work. The following resolutions were read by Dr. Jensen and on motion of Mrs. Young, second-I second-I ed by Mr. Snow, they were unanim-fously unanim-fously approved and ordered spread on the minutes and given to the press: Whereas, our efficient executive secretary, sec-retary, James H. Wallis, has at the end of seven years of faithful service, seen fit to resign in order that he might return to his newspaper activities; activi-ties; and ' j Whereas, the Executive Committee has seen fit, by proper resolutions, to ! express their appreciation of the splendid work accomplished under his administration, and to testify of his devotion, integrity and loyalty; and Whereas, through his constructive genius, the first traveling health clinic to go through the State was organized with an expert personnel, giving to j the public for the first time, definite and reliable statistics regarding the extent of tuberculosis in Utah; and Whereas, under his administration j clean school contests were first organ-! organ-! ized, over two-hundered schools re- ceiving the benefits of this splendid service; the first traveling dental clinic : gave service to the needy; public health nursing was encouraged and school nurses established in many school districts in the State; and Whereas, during his seven years of efficient service, every city, town and hamlet in Utah, heard the gospel of good health preached by him, with ! films, slides and charts, while the newspapers, magazines and journals of the State have published hundreds of articles on health conservation written by him, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the : Utah Public Health Association, by its executive committee, expresses its deep appreciation for these faithful and 1 valuable services, and in parting with ' his association, bid him Godspeed in 1 whatever service he undertakes. I Dr. Widtsoe expressed his appreciation apprecia-tion of Mr. Wallis' work and stated 1 that he knew he would do everything in his power to help with the work of j the Association, and he hoped that in : the near future some little recogni-I recogni-I tion be given him, perhaps in the form I of a dinner or a luncheon, i Mr. Wallis expressed his deepest ap-! ap-! preciation for the support he had re-! re-! ceived from the officers and executive committee of the association during the seven years of his service as executive ex-ecutive secretary and for the testi-! testi-! monial of his work as expressed in the j resolutions adopted by the Executive i Committee. ! |
