Show Baptist Rites Held Monday For Gun Victim Funeral services were held Monday at 11 am in Vernal First Southern Baptist Church for Edward James Coston 48 46 of Vernal Mr Coston was found Thursday of last week dead from what was assumed to be bea bea a self inflicted gunshot wound WOODEY B Searle noticed a car Thursday at 6 am park park- parked parked ed by the side of the road 11 miles north of Vernal on the Vernal Manila Highway near the turnoff to the Jackson i Ranch Later in the day Mr Searle Searl e saw the car again and decided decide d to Investigate and saw Mr on the back seat He sent word to the sheriff and an ambulance was dis- dis dispatch dispatched patch patched d The bullet fired from a large time old 44 40 revolver had bad entered the right temple causing a fatal wound It was still clutched in the victims victim's right hand FIRST ON THE scene was Trooper Ray Herrington of Utah Highway Patrol follow follow- followed followed ed by Sheriff Norman R Flet- Flet Fletcher char cher and Deputy Wm V Mott The sheriffs sheriff's office investigated ed Assistant County Attorney Hugh W Colton and Judge Earl J Freeman coroner also visited the scene Mr Coston was born April In Maitland Mo a son of Edward C and Ora Gray Coston He was married to Grace Chandler Aug 19 1937 Later they were divorced and he heI I married Dorothy Ann Smith April 6 1942 Later they were also divorced SURVIVORS Include three daughters and two sons Mrs Bob Pearl Seaver Los An- An Angeles Angeles geles Mrs Tom Lori Lori Palm Palm- Palmer er Miss Carol Ann Coston Richard and Ronnie all of ofSan ofSan San Jose Calif and three grandchildren Also surviving are his mo- mo mother mother ther and stepfather Mr and Mrs Harold Nelson Vernal two sisters Mrs LaRue Jes- Jes Jessie J essic sic sie Pickup Randlett and an d Mrs William J Ethel Young Vernal Burial was in Vernal Mem Memorial orial Park Ce Cemetery |
