Show Funeral Held for Basin Pioneer BALLARD Funeral ser ser ser- services vices for George Bracken who died in the Hospital in Salt Lake City May 15 was held at the Stake Center in Roosevelt Saturday May 18 at 1 pm Francis Todd of Brigham City gave the prayer at the mortuary The funeral was conducted by Bishop Orlan Cook The opening song was sung by the Ballard Singing Mothers Though Deepening Trials conducted by Mrs R L Bear Bear- Beardell dell dall accompanied by Mrs Ar Ar- Arthur thur Smith I Invocation was given by Gary Gardner First speaker was Leland Angus A vocal I duet was sung by Mrs Karl and Mrs r Betts In the Garden Second speaker was Bishop Orlan Cook The Singing Mo Mo- Mothers sang Abide With Me Benediction was given by Golden Colline Pallbearers were grandsons LeRoy and Ronald Campbell of lone Calif Douglas Kettle Terry Jerald and Raymond Bracken Bracker of Lake All of the ate family were In attendance and five of the twenty eight grand grandchildren grandchildren children were absent Burial was in the Roosevelt Cemetery under the direction of the Mortuary Mrs Arthur Smith played for aU all the songs and the pre pre- prelude prelude lude and postlude Russel I Todd dedicated the grave gave Mr Bracken is survived I by his wife and four sons and four daughters Karl Duane and Lynn Bracken Mrs Elton Ardis Kettle Mrs Charles Rhea Pool all of Salt Lake City Guy Bracken Mrs Lynn Merle Campbell and Mrs W P Ellen Marshall of lone California twenty eight grandchildren and one great great- granddaughter Two sisters and one brother Mrs LeRoy Clara Rust of Altamont Mrs Fred Ethel Carpenter of Manti and Le Le- Le Leland land Bracken of San Diego California Mr Bracken was born at Pine Valley Washington County Utah August 8 1888 to Orlando H and Martha Mathews Bracken He married Ellen Todd Oct 3 1913 In n the Salt Lake Temple Mr Bracken moved to the reservation then known with hIs parents from Southern utah in 1907 They settled on the Indian Bench and put up haY and delivered it to Ft Duchesne while the soldiers were stationed there He rec received his high school education at the Uintah Stake Academy at Vernal Ire He with his parents were early pioneers in the Roo Roose- Roose Roosevelt e- e evelt velt area where the operated a general store also one at Leeton Mr Bracken and his wife began their married life at Leeton They built one of the first homes in Mr Bracken farmed on sev- sev several several eral farms in the Roosevelt and Randlett area in 1932 they moved to where they later built a home Mr Bracken was custodian at High School for over eighteen years re- re retiring re- re retiring tiring from this work he spent several years doing carpenter work i |
