Show Camp The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Camp met on Friday Nov 5 at the home of Wilda Samuels The meeting was conducted by Captain Paula Wright A former member Bar Bar- Barbara Barbara bara Jolley was welcomed back to the Camp The history was given by Marie Lee about her husbands husband's father William Leroy Lee who was born Feb 12 1884 In Ashley Ward which at that time was called Union Ward He was known as Roy and at age 12 he had to leave school to herd sheep and help support his mother He married Vinnie Miller in 1908 Roy was well known for his musical talent and for being able to play many instruments Lesson leader Lola Allred gave an in- in interesting Interesting lesson about pioneer school schoolteachers schoolteachers teachers One interesting story was about Annie Pike Greenwood who came with her husband from Kansas to homestead in Idaho Ca Catherine therine Calder was also a pioneer school teacher who started teaching in Salt Lake valley and then moved to Vernal Louise Caldwell received the door prize and the members were reminded to attend the Christmas party next month at the home Eleanor Rust which will begin at 6 30 pm Refreshments were served by hostesses Wilda Samuels Donna Sevy and Bernice Burke |
