Show Basin Childrens Children's Home Purchased by Aliens GUSHER GUSHER Mr Mr and Mrs Preston Allen Allen Al AI len have purchased the Uintah Basin Childrens Children's Home at on Indian Bench NEGOTIATIONS WERE completed Thursday evening of lof last week at a called meeting of the board of directors by Reverend Harold Dillman Layton president of the corporation A mass meeting was held in the Gusher Gush Gusner er Baptist Church Ch August 11 1958 to discuss ways and means of operating a home for children A MONTH later the Uintah Basin Childrens Childrens Children's Childrens Child Child- rens ren's Home was was organized und and became the first such home to be incorporated in the state of Utah The old dance hall known as Victory Park was purchased from Buzz Larsen to be u used ed for the home Due to impure drinking water and new regulations the home was forced to move from Victory Park to Whiterocks in 1961 EXTENDED INTEREST in the home and to meet the requirements of the Utah laws the Baptist Benevolence Corporation Corporation Cor COT was organized in Provo October 10 1961 In 1963 the home was moved to a five five- acre plot on Indian Bench near High School and adjacent to the Indian center Some 1000 Indian and white children have been cared eared for at the home since 1958 A number of have served during this time EARLY IN 1969 Juanita and Preston Allen became th the last of the incorporation They have served for more than two years During this time the home was able to be freed from debt The Aliens will continue to operate the home on the same standards as has been in the past There are 11 Indian children at the home In the spring the Aliens expect to add a recreational room and anda a anew new laundry aundry center |
