Show Browns Brown's Park Parl Trip TripI I Scheduled for Actor Robert Redford By Kerry Ross ROil Boren Actor Robert Redford in conjunction with Kerry Ross Boren Daggett County historian and writer Gale Ray Rhoades has scheduled an excursion through Browns Park tentative date being August August Au Au- gust 8 8 Mr Redford who won recent acclaim for his portrayal of the Sundance Sundance Sun Sun- dance Kid in the Award winning whining winning win win- ning movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Sun dance Kid has always had an abiding interest In the history and preservation of Utah's past In reference to the Browns Park excursion Actor Redford wrote I am very much interested in helpIng helping help help- ing to preserve whatever historical value the state may possess in the way of ruins rums documents artifacts etc especially especial especial- ly in this case owing to my emotional attachment to the Butch Cassidy legend legend leg leg- end Mr Redford will be in New York City from July 26 to August 1 I and the trip by jeep is scheduled for August 8 8 Plans for the excursion were originated ed by Gale Rhoades and Mr Boren in conjunction with th the recent efforts to preserve historic landmarks in Utah Contacted at his home in Sundance Actor Actor Act Act- or Redford readily agreed to assist in inthe inthe inthe the excursion THE MAIN purpose will be to publicize publicize publicize pub pub- existing landmarks especially those connected with Butch Cassidy and others and aid in their preservation Through the efforts of Mr Boren many of these landmarks have already been submitted submitted submitted submit submit- ted to the Historic Sites Committee for possible acceptance to the Stats State and National National National Na Na- Registers A notable example is that of Uncle Jack Robinsons Robinson's Cabin which recently made the State Register of Historic Landmarks as Utah's Oldest Oldest Oldest Old Old- est Existing Cabin and has been submitted submitted submitted sub sub- for possible acceptance to the National Register It is hoped that through the efforts of Mr Boren and Mr Rhoades with the able assistance and interest of Mr Redford that existing cabins which were once used by Butch Cassidy together with all other important sites in Browns Park that are falling into ruin and neglect neglect neglect ne ne- will be brought to the proper attention attention attention at at- and given the respect which their age and history dictates |
