Show Vernal Receives Clean Face on onEarth onEarth onEarth Earth Day 1970 Uintah High School students declared Earth Day Wednesday of last week as Clean Campus Day in conjunction with the nationally celebrated effort to clean cleanup up the environment From 7 am a.m. until school closing students students stu stu- dents and teachers went out from classrooms classrooms class class- rooms at specified times throughout the day to pick up and rake litter and scoop up earth filled curb corners that could not be reached by the street cleaning machine OVER students spent an average of one hour each and many covered the area three times during the day approximating approximating ap apT hours The hired street cleaner machine balked balked balk balk- ed frequently during the all day job along the curb lines The seminary students students stu stu- dents cleared th the ditches and seminary seminary seminary ary building area IT IS estimated that a minimum of 12 dump truck loads were gathered said Mrs White cleanup chairman Vivian Holmes was organizer and coordinator of the event STUDENTS OF the New Life Training Traming Train Tram ing Center spent Earth Day picking up litter between East Highway 40 and the airport turnoff on South The litter was so concentrated along the route that students filled their 20 gallon galion plastic sacks before they reached their goal said Shirley Wilkins teacher at the school Mrs Wilkins took the students students stu stu- dents in two groups 1110 a am m. m and aker and Clara Robinson attended the TOPS Convention in Salt Lake City at the Hillcrest High School where Mrs Robinson graduated from TOPS to KOPS Bobbie Bobble accompanied them to Salt Lake City and visited a friend Debbie Metcalf Sheriff Kenneth Reed and Mrs Reed spent several days in Ogden recently where Mr Reed attended police meetings meet meet- ings tags and the couple attended dinners and visited THE NIMBLE Needles 4 II cooking group met at the home of Sirs Mrs William Robinson Monday Alma demon demon- was guest The girls made several salads which were eaten for refreshments Miss reviewed nutrition nutrition nu nu- and demonstrated how to use the knife for cutting foods Next week the girls will make sandwiches Friday Stir Mr and Mrs Roy Boren attended attended at at- tended a banquet honoring their granddaughter grand grand' granddaughter daughter Sandra LaRae Boren of Green River Kiver Wyoming who became the bride of Michael Kovach of Rock Springs Saturday Saturday Sat Sat- in the Church Chuich in m Green River Kiver THE ROY Borens and Mrs Donald Larsen Mrs Dale laylor Taylor and Mrs John all of Manila attended the wedding wedding wed wed- ding of Sandra Boren daughter of Erma Erma Er Er- ma Boren of Green River and Farren Boren of Cheyenne Mr and Mrs Allan of Ogden visited their parents Mr and Mrs Gene Campbell Camp Camp- bell and Mr 1111 and Mrs Sirs I.
